Samsung is finally nearing the release of the long-delayed One UI 7 update. Recently, the company has started internally testing the new patch on several models. Evidence of this has even surfaced on the company’s servers. However, despite all this, there is still no official announcement about the beta or stable version of One UI 7.
Currently, it is expected that Samsung will launch the beta process in the first week of December, starting with the Galaxy S24 series, though this timeline is not confirmed. Two to three weeks later, a similar process is anticipated for the Galaxy S23 series. Amid these developments, a list of Samsung models expected to receive the Android 16-based One UI 8 update has also been shared.
Samsung Models Expected to Receive Android 16-Based One UI 8 Update
With Google releasing the first developer preview of Android 16 on November 19, attention has shifted to which devices will receive the new update next year. Although One UI 7 has yet to roll out, leaks from reliable sources have significantly clarified this matter.
Samsung has improved its software support considerably in recent years. Mid-range models released after the Galaxy A16 5G will receive six years of support, while flagship devices starting with the Galaxy S24 series will enjoy seven years of updates. Devices released before these milestones will adhere to the initially announced software support durations.
According to sources, the Galaxy S21 series will not receive Android 16. This is because these devices are eligible for four major OS updates. As the series launched with Android 11 and will conclude its update cycle with Android 15, they are reaching the end of their software lifecycle.
